EquineContest

I am officially holding an equine contest - depict an Assateague pony/ies in its/their full glory - entries to be voted on by everyone - I will send the winners some Virginia amazonite or California gem tourmaline crystals that I have collected (i am a rockhound). I am aiming to have around four 1st place slots and four 2nd place slots – I will be sending the items via ultra-cheap mail. Contest DEADLINE is July 21st - no prior done work!!! Entries can be serious, comical, fantasy influenced, anthro, dark, art nouveau, etc... basically anything goes as long as it is tasteful/respectful. Please tell your friends!!!

!Please Note that Chincoteague Ponies = Assateague Ponies! My last journal entry or the links below explain what they are and why they are famous.

Photos of the Maryland Assateague ponies are available in my gallery & scraps and soon will have some from the Virginia side of the island in her gallery - you must ask her before you use anything for a photomanip. She already has a great shot of some mares from a prior trip: [link]

Contest Categories

1) Digital Art (Drawing, Painting, etc...).

2) Non-Digital Art (Drawing, sketching, painting, finger painting, etc...).

3) Photos and photo manipulations. Photos: must be of actual WILD PONIES (thou they don't have to be from Assateague) and I will allow photos taken prior to contest start date. Manips: you MUST cite stock sources and provide links if possible.

4) "Mixed-media": Sculpting, MLP mutilating :), etc... (Warning: if I don't get enough entries for this category I will mix it with the non-digital art category).

Please leave a comment or note me if you are interested!

Do not use any of the following images as stock - they belong to someone else. I am posting the links just so you can use them as drawing/painting references to see what the ponies look like and their habitat:

Ok - i changed the contest rules to allow photos of any wild ponies - it will make it more fair to photographers that have no access to assateague - i didn't realize that there were wild pony herds in other places - like the UK and Oz. Good luck!
hey cheers mate :D
